Michael Dixon graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BA LLB degree in 1994. He began his legal career in 1995 and rose to partner by 1998. A year later, he took over the firm, which evolved into Dixon Attorneys, now proudly based at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. With 27 years of post-qualification experience and over two decades leading his own practice, Michael brings a wealth of legal knowledge, particularly in Contract Law, Civil Law, and Commercial Law. He also serves as legal counsel for an international IT group, advising on risk, corporate governance, and commercial litigation.
He has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial agreements as well as representing clients in disputes involving:
-Contractual conflicts
-The Companies Act
-Liquidations and sequestrations
-Shareholder, partner, and director disagreements
Business & Community Leadership
In addition to his legal practice, Michael is actively involved in various business and social development initiatives i.e.
Executive Committee Member for Western Province Cricket Club
Since August 2021, Michael has overseen Operations at the Newlands Cricket Ground, including the Members’ Pavilion and he also chairs the club’s Disciplinary Committee.
